Under the action of elastic force, the impact body of specified quality is used to impact the surface of the sample at a certain speed. The hardness value is calculated by the ratio of the rebound speed of the punch at 1mm from the surface of the sample to the impact speed. The calculation formula is as

Based on the Leeb hardness measurement principle, hardness and strength testing can be performed on a variety of metal materials.

Operation method and matters needing attention


The calibrated Leeb hardness block can be used to test the instrument before the measurement, and the error and repeatability of the indication should not be greater than that specified in Table 1-1.


If the indication error and repeatability exceed the regulations in Table 1-1, the instrument should be calibrated (using the basic calibration function, if necessary, multi-point calibration can be performed) before use;

Support or repair.


1. Load


Push down the loading sleeve to lock the impact body (for DC type impact device, you can suck the loading rod on the surface of the sample, insert the DC type impact device into the loading rod until it stops

2. Positioning


Press the support ring of the impact device on the surface of the sample according to the selected measurement direction, and the impact direction should be perpendicular to the test surface.


3. Measurement


Press the release button on the upper part of the impact device to measure. During the measurement process, the sample, impact device, and operator are required to be stable, and the direction of the force should pass through the impact


Strike the axis of the device. Each part of the sample that needs to be measured is generally measured 3 to 5 times. The data dispersion should not exceed ±15HL of the average. Distance between any two indentations

4. Read the measured value


Use the measured average value of multiple effective test points as a Leeb hardness measurement data. When recording the Leeb hardness measurement result, the hardness is displayed before the Leeb hardness symbol HL


The degree value shows the impact device type after HL. For example, 780HLD indicates that the Leeb hardness value measured by the D-type impact device is 780.


For other hardness converted by Leeb hardness, the corresponding hardness symbol should be attached before the Leeb hardness symbol. For example, 420HVHLD means to measure with D-type impact device


The Vickers hardness value converted from Leeb hardness is 420.


Note: HL values measured by different impact device types are different, for example, 780HLD≠780HLC. This instrument has a built-in conversion table between the HL values measured by different impact devices,

Precautions:


 


The surface temperature of the workpiece should not be overheated and should be less than 120°C.


The surface roughness of the workpiece should not be too large, otherwise it will cause measurement errors. The measured surface of the workpiece must show metallic luster, and be flat, smooth, and free of oil stains.


Specimens with overhangs or thin-walled specimens weighing 2-5kg should be supported by objects during the test to avoid deformation, buckling and movement of the specimen due to impact force;


The measurement of the shaped workpiece must be placed on a flat and firm surface.


It must be placed steadily without any shaking;


Only heavy specimens weighing more than 5kg can be directly measured without support. The portable Leeb hardness tester has strict requirements on the thickness of the measured workpiece, and the minimum thickness of the workpiece is


The degree should meet the specification requirements of the manual.


For workpieces with a hardened surface layer, the depth of the hardened layer should conform to the specification.


For lighter workpieces, it must be tightly coupled with a solid support, the two coupling surfaces must be flat and smooth, the amount of coupling agent should not be too much, and the test direction must be vertical.


Straight to the coupling plane; when the workpiece is a large-area plate, long rod, or bent part, even if the weight and thickness are large, it may cause deformation and instability of the test piece, resulting in inconsistent test values.


Therefore, it should be reinforced on the back of the test point or the magnetic property of the supporting workpiece should be less than 30 Gauss curved surface workpiece: the test surface of the workpiece is flat.


When the measured surface curvature radius R is less than 30mm, a small support ring or a special-shaped support ring should be used in the test.


Store away from vibration, strong magnetic field, corrosive media, humidity, dust, and store at room temperature.


The transportation can be carried out under the condition of the third-level highway under the condition of guaranteeing the original packaging.


 


Instrument care and maintenance


Impact device maintenance


After using the impact device for 1000 to 2000 times, clean the tube and impact body of the impact device with a nylon brush. When cleaning the catheter, first unscrew the support ring, and then remove the impact body


Screw the nylon brush into the tube in a counterclockwise direction, pull it out at the bottom, repeat this 5 times, and then install the impact body and the support ring;


After use, the impact body should be released;


It is strictly forbidden to use various lubricants in the impact device.


 


Instrument maintenance procedures


When the standard Rockwell hardness block is used for verification, and the errors are greater than 2HRC, it may be that the ball head wears and fails, and the ball head or impact body should be considered to be replaced.


When there are other abnormal phenomena of the hardness tester, please do not disassemble or adjust any fixed assembly parts. After filling in the warranty card, send it to the maintenance department of our company.
