A review of the 12-year history of the Far East Non-destructive Testing New Technology Forum
"Far East Nondestructive Testing New Technology Forum" is a large-scale professional technology forum in the field of industrial nondestructive testing based on China and radiating overseas. The forum aims to strengthen international cooperation and exchange of nondestructive testing technology and promote the development of new technology research and application of nondestructive testing in China. The slogan of the forum is "Whoever has mastered advanced science and technology will gain advantages and initiative in competition and development."
Since 2004, it has been held for twelve consecutive sessions. The first to third sessions were named "Jiangsu Province Non-destructive Testing New Technology Forum", and from the fourth session onwards, the name was changed to "Far East Non-destructive Testing New Technology Forum".

The report is rich in content and meets industrial needs, such as the latest developments in digital radiography technologies such as CR and DR, the successful application of ultrasonic guided waves, TOFD and phased array technology in pressure-bearing equipment testing, and far-field eddy currents in the equipment in use The unique advantages of outer wall corrosion detection, etc., reflect the new trend of digitization, intelligence and efficiency of non-destructive testing, and put forward new and challenging requirements for the majority of non-destructive testing personnel.

Director Zhang Gang praised this forum as "a grand event in the non-destructive testing industry with a strong academic atmosphere". The scope of the forum report covers the cutting-edge academic research topics of non-destructive testing such as infrared thermal imaging, laser ultrasound, laser infrared, pulsed eddy current, nonlinear signal research, signal modeling research, imaging research, as well as ultrasonic TOFD, ultrasonic phased array, ultrasonic guided wave, Hot issues in the application of non-destructive testing technologies such as radiographic digital imaging (DR), radiographic computer imaging (CR), and multi-frequency eddy current. At this forum, well-known scholars and experts at home and abroad made a total of 52 academic reports; 107 academic and technical papers were collected (including 12 in English). The domestic and foreign scholars and experts participating in the conference focused on the research and application hot issues of non-destructive testing such as ultrasonic phased array, ultrasonic guided wave, acoustic emission, electromagnetic ultrasonic, air-coupled ultrasonic, digital ray, pulsed eddy current, stress-strain testing, etc. 110 academic reports were launched.
Entrusted by China Special Equipment Inspection Association, the activity of "Special Equipment Non-destructive Testing Technology You Show Paper Selection" was organized. A total of 232 non-destructive testing academic and technical papers were collected, and 5 first prizes, 10 second prizes, and 20 third prizes were selected. The domestic and foreign scholars and experts participating in the conference discussed magnetic flux leakage detection technology, structural health monitoring and diagnosis, electromagnetic technology, ultrasonic technology, acoustic detection and theory, ultrasonic phased array, ultrasonic TOFD, ultrasonic guided wave, acoustic emission, electromagnetic ultrasonic, and air coupling 114 academic reports were launched on the research and application hot issues of non-destructive testing such as ultrasound, digital radiography, and nuclear power non-destructive testing.
This forum continues to carry out non-destructive testing technology you show paper selection activities. A total of 157 papers were received, including 65 English papers and 92 Chinese papers. Of the 65 English papers, 48 papers were finally approved and submitted to the IEEE headquarters for approval and included in EI. According to the evaluation experts’ scoring and review opinions, English papers were selected: 5 first-class awards, 19 second-class awards, and 24 third-class awards. Chinese papers: 7 first prizes, 16 second prizes, and 24 third prizes.

Christian Boller, director of the Frauhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP) in Germany, served as the chairman of the academic committee of this forum.
This forum set up 9 non-destructive testing technology application seminars, and held 172 academic reports, covering research fields such as railways, wind power, electromechanical special equipment and so on. Among them, the special seminar on the application of non-destructive testing in the railway industry jointly organized by Sino-foreign cooperation was the first establishment of the Far East Forum.
This forum included more than 200 papers (more than 120 English papers), of which more than 60 were retrieved by EI.

Chairman of the US Center for Non-Destructive Evaluation (QNDE): Professor Leonard J. Bond serves as the Chairman of the Academic Committee.
This forum has 7 sub-venues and a total of 170 academic reports. China Special Inspection Institute, PetroChina Western Pipeline Bureau, Southwest Jiaotong University and University of Electronic Technology and other units organized non-destructive testing technology seminars.
A total of 255 papers were included in this forum, of which 110 were English papers, and 72 IEEE papers were submitted after expert review. From the included articles, 81 "Far East Forum You Show Papers" were selected, including 11 first prizes, 21 second prizes, and 49 third prizes. Certificates were awarded to the above-mentioned you show papers; the "leading you show" was selected. “Student Paper Award” has two first prizes (one for English and one for Chinese), four for second prizes (two for English and two for Chinese), and eight third prizes (four for English and Chinese), yes Prizes were awarded for the above-mentioned award-winning papers.
